About Peter Thomas
I grew up in a lovely, pre-Revolutionary town in southern New Jersey and was educated
at Dartmouth College, psychology major, and graduated from Tufts University School of Dental
Medicine in 1971.
I joined a senior doctor in a general practice in Hampton, NH, directly from school and began my
solo practice 10 years later. I am thankful for having had the opportunity to settle and practice in our seacoast community.
I was fortunate as an independent solo practioner to provide services to a wide socio-economic range of people and to collaborate with colleagues
to create programs to meet some of the dental needs of the underserved-- such as Dentists With A Heart and the dental clinic at Families First Commmunity Health Center in Portsmouth.
Over the years I have participated in several Dental Mission projects in the Caribbean and have found those efforts
In 2003 I was inducted into the International College of Dentists.
I sold my practice in 2015 and am greatly appreciating the opportunity to reset my purpose(s) and priorities. Staying involved in clinical dentistry
is important to me, so I've been volunteering in a community dental health clinic. Its refreshing to just meet dental needs without concerns
about productivity and running a business.
Music has always been an important part of my life. I play trombone in two swing bands
and sing with JourneySong, a group that seeks to bring the comfort of vocal music to
hospice clients (www.JourneySong.org) I also enjoy staying fit, riding and wrenching on motorcycles,
hiking, camping and travel.
I am the father of two adult children and grandfather to two fun girls.
