Killing Sacred Cows, by Garrett B. Gunderson with Stephen Palmer, Greenleaf Book Group, LLC, Austin, TX, 2008. The ideas in this book make us reconsider our paradigms about investing. The ever-present advice to sock away money into 401-k plans seems to be useful mostly to the financial industry, allowing that industry to use vast sums of our money for decades while providing us with unpredictable returns when we retire. We are even penalized if we want to take our own money out before we retire. The book is primarily focused on prosperity, in that it is a blend of personal values, goals, “success,” and money.
