Steve Vernon, F.S.A.
President, Rest of Life Communications

Steve is a research scholar for the Stanford Center on Longevity. He s active with research, writing, and speaking on the most important issues facing older workers and retirees, including finances, health, and lifestyle. Previously, he worked for over 35 years as a consulting actuary, helping Fortune 1000 companies design, manage and communicate their retirement programs.
Steve currently writes regular online columns for CBS MoneyWatch and His latest book, Retirement Game-Changers: Strategies for a Healthy, Financially Secure, and Fulfilling Long Life, addresses the series of critical decisions that older workers face as they transition from the workplace and into retirement.

His previously published works include:

Steve is an independent researcher and writer. He bases his insights and strategies on research regarding both the economic and behavioral economics aspects of retirement decision-making.
Steve is a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of California, Irvine, with a double major in mathematics and social science. He splits his time between the Bay Area and Ventura County in Southern California.

An experienced financial services professional since 1998, Rich provides high net-worth clients with premium advice and service. At UBS, Rich’s status as a Wealth Advisor qualifies him to effectively communicate with his clients, and their existing professionals. His focus on providing more solutions to fewer clients has motivated him to establish a team of firm’s specialists and build a boutique of outside professionals. Rich’s experience enables him to bring the right resources to the table at the right time. In 2018 Rich achieved the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designation which qualifies him as one of the country’s elite professionals specializing in ownership transitions. Rich has a focus of working with dentists in planning for practice transitions. He oversees a disciplined process for transitions, involving either buying or selling, which helps his clients achieve their goals in the third act of life.

Rich fell in love with the stock market in High School. He obtained his B.S. degree from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) with concentrations in finance & marketing. Rich holds his Series 7, 63, 65, and 31 securities licenses and is a multiyear winner of NH’s 5 Star Wealth Manager Award. A native of Salem, NH, Rich has lived in Kittery, ME since 2004 with his wife, Kristina, son, Christian, and cats, “Stamp” and “Cygnus”. In the summer Rich fill his personal time, playing softball and coaching Christian’s Little League Team. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and is involved in organized sports, golf, downhill skiing, water sports, “off-roading”, racing slot cars, and turning pens. He is a chairperson for the Kittery Parks Commission, Secretary for Kittery Little League and Portsmouth Coed Softball, and involved with the Association of Retiring Dentists, the New Hampshire Dental Society and the Maine Dental Association. Patrick C. Closson J.D.
Chairman Healthcare Practice Group, McLane Middleton

Patrick C. Closson is a director and shareholder at McLane Middleton, Professional Association. He focuses his practice on general corporate law and dental/health care law matters; including mergers and acquisitions, entity formation, general corporate governance and contract matters. Pat is the Chair of McLane Middleton’s Healthcare Practice Group, Vice Chair of the Corporate Department, and a member of the firm’s Management Committee. Pat is licensed to practice in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.

Pat works with dental practices and providers on all aspects of dental legal issues that they face including compliance, transactions, licensure, employment agreements, non-compete agreements, compensation and incentive plans, leasing, buy-sell agreements, asset protection and estate planning, and insurance audits. Pat regularly speaks to groups of dentist on these topics.

Professionally, Pat has been recognized by several organizations, including Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and Chambers and Partners. In 2018, Pat received the New Hampshire Business Review Business Excellence Award – Professional Services, Large Company, and is a past recipient of the Business and Industry Association Above and Beyond Award.
Pat earned a Bachelor of Arts, Summa Cum Laude, in history from the University of New Hampshire in 1995, and a Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School in 1998.

Denis P. Dillon, L.L.M, J.D, M.B.A.
Trusts and Estates, McLane Middleton

Denis is a member of the Trusts & Estates Department at McLane Middleton law firm and practices in the areas of taxation, estate planning, probate law, and elder law, including Medicaid planning. He handles all aspects of federal and state taxation including income taxation, estate and gift taxation. He also advises clients with respect to sophisticated tax, business, succession and estate planning.

Denis began his career in 1992 as a tax attorney with the public accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand, and prior to joining McLane Middleton he practiced law in Boston, Massachusetts.

Denis received his LL.M. Taxation from Boston University School of Law (1997), J.D. from Western New England College School of Law, cum laude, (1992), M.B.A. from Nichols College (1989) and B.A. from Assumption College (1981).
